A green juice a day keeps the doctor away

Chronic diseases are widespread and are caused mainly by poor nutrition and lifestyle choices. They are the most common cause of death in the world. They include:

Heart Disease

These diseases can be prevented by taking proper care of your body from the inside and out: having a healthy, balanced diet by consuming the recommended amount of vegetables and fruits per day and regular exercising. It can be difficult to consume the recommended amount of vegetables every day. Yet we have to consume them in order to replenish our body with essential nutrients, so it can heal and thrive. This is where drinking Green Juices can make a difference. Green juices extracted from a Twin Gear Slow Juicer can nourish, replenish, heal and energize the body. So you can start living life to the fullest!

The risks of poor nutrition

We have grown unhealthier and unhappier than ever before. Fresh and organic food has been replaced for fast and cheap food filled with additives, sugars and chemicals. Poor nutrition and lifestyle choices will catch up with you sooner or later. Obesity is a growing, epidemic problem in the United States and other first-world countries. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer (source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). These are direct or indirect consequences of unhealthy food and lifestyle choices. Yet these consequences can be prevented and remedied if the body is properly nurtured and nourished with essential nutrients.

Sugar: a ‘’hidden’’ enemy

Sugar consumption has been increased by 11% over the last five years throughout the world. The World Health Organization recommends a maximum daily intake of 25 grams (6 teaspoons). However, the average European consumes 92 gram of sugar (23 teaspoons), which is four times more than what is recommended, with Germany on the 1st place, The Netherlands on the 2nd place and Ireland on the 3rd place.

Other effects of too much sugar

According to a 2013 study which is published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, a large amount of sugar stresses out the heart and decreases the muscle’s function, which leads to heart failure.

In 2014, Women’s Health reported that a high consumption of fructose, a type of sugar found in artificially sweetened food or sweet fruits, lowers ‘’good’’ cholesterol. This may stimulate triglycerides, a type of fat, which move from the liver to the arteries. Eventually, this increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

A 2002 research concludes that a high consumption of sugar reduces the production of a brain chemical known as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Without BDNF, our brains are not able to form new memories, thus leads to concentrating problems.

The kidneys are responsible for the filtration from our blood. High levels of sugar demand the kidneys for overworking and will eventually damage the kidneys. Many years of excessive sugar filtration decreases kidney function and this may lead to waste products leaking into the body.

Juice smart, drink green

Green juice is made from a large portion of vegetables and a smaller portion of fruit. According to Dr. Bazzano, vegetables, especially the leafy kind, are connected to smaller risks of developing diabetes than compared to fruit juice. Fruit juice contains higher doses of sugar which can affect the body and mind. These are the health benefits of Green Juice:

Green juices for balance and recovery

Green juice is rich in vitamins, enzymes and minerals that your body needs. It’s a good addition for your daily diet and stimulate the recovery process of the cells in your body. Green juice is ideal for weight loss in a healthy way and brings more balance in your diet, because it contains no fat and less sugar.

Green juices contain less sugar

Consuming too much sugar will lead to a soaring blood sugar and insulin level, eventually an increase in fat storage. However, whilst being mindful of the sugar content, you can choose to add fruits to sweeten the juices to your taste.

Green juices helps to detox our body

Vegetables, especially green leafy ones, release chlorophyll into the liver. Chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants, helps creating increased brain function and aids the overall liver function by breaking down toxins by neutralizing them. It also acts as a medicine by increasing the oxygenate in blood. An increase in oxygen helps the liver to release toxins and stress from the body.

Green juices for more energy

The body becomes purified due to the detox efficiency, which will give the body an energy boost. It is the perfect replacement for morning coffees. Green juices can also restrain you from sugar cravings since it contains 30% protein, which keeps you full for a longer period of time.

Green juices helps to balance our pH levels

Green juices are alkaline, which means the pH level is greater than 7. By drinking more green juice, our pH level will balance with the acidic foods that we often took in, such as meat, dairy, wheat and refined sugar.
